4 years ago till now and forever

When i started blogging 4 years ago, my first post was about breafasting with jam and kat on saturday january 29th 2005[ Jamgot married 5 months later], all 3 of us single. Now jam has nadi, kat is married too and im still single, but we have evolved into different people who still laugh the same way, share gossip, exchange good news etc etc. Today i shared a yummy nashta with them again, nadi being the attention seeking cuddly pot, and amidst that we had our gossip, suggestions, news, randomness.

God bless this:)

and God bless espresso:D

post30eat eat eat

post 30 according to Jam, eating is very moody, when your body wants food you eat like crazy and then when it doesnt it doesnt, stubborn bitch that it is[body i mean]

But experiencing 30’s i kind of like it, yes its a tad bit difficult to DIET..but who cares when you caneat at will and control later thanks to mood swing when you DONT WANT TO EAT!!

Here is to all the girls turning 30 sooner or later…ITS  WONDERFUL!!! you truly feel yourself!!

p.s:i indulged in chocolate lave all by myself yesterday:D and today i will do yoga..hahahhah

Hello Marium,  How are you all ?

meyum says:

good good

meyum says:

hopw are you all?

rehanalm73 says:

Yes, Alhamdulillah, we are all fine.

rehanalm73 says:

What is happening with the economy there ?

rehanalm73 says:

Are things getting tougher or levelling off now ?

meyum says:

hahahaha….something i cant sum up in one line

meyum says:

they are ok

meyum says:

we are livingg

rehanalm73 says:

No.  Seriously.  Mahmood wants to return to Sadiqabad and push the sales but if coming is tight or if inflation is really high people might not want to buy land.

rehanalm73 says:

I meant ‘but if money is tight’

meyum says:

well aunty

rehanalm73 says:

Pakistan is top of the list here in that region – for failing economy and huge international debts which the Pakistani govt is unable to pay.  They are asking for something like 3 Billion Dollars within the next month from the IMF.

meyum says:

im probabl;y the wrong person to say anything

rehanalm73 says:

OK.  I thought as you are working and perhaps reading the papers, watching the news etc you might have an idea.

meyum says:

no i ammm

rehanalm73 says:

The people we know in Sadiqabad are mostly landlords.  They seem to be OK come what may.

meyum says:

but this is more detailed thing that you are asking

rehanalm73 says:

I will probably speak to our Bank Manager in Sadiqabad and see what he says.

rehanalm73 says:

My experience of Pakistani people – generally I mean – is that they all seem to be muddling along whatever the economic state.

meyum says:

yes because we live here, and we cant exactly run away in the face of any failings that may come our way

rehanalm73 says:

They showed Zardari on TV last night – the IMF refused his request for a large sum of money – then China also refused.  One of the Ministers came on TV to say that if they don’t get 3 Billion Dollars within the next 30 or 45 days the country will face melt down – whatever that means …..

rehanalm73 says:

Even here last night they stated that we are officially in a Recession.  We are in negative growth now.

rehanalm73 says:

All doom and gloom.  Next year, 2009, is going to get worse here they say.

rehanalm73 says:

I remember the last recession in 1991/92 which went on for about five years.  It was really tough then too.

meyum says:

we are aware of this…but again, melt down or degfaulter or whatever t is…people who are living in Pakistan have to work things ouyt accordingly

meyum says:

we dont have the choice to “opt out or not”

rehanalm73 says:

Yes it is the same here too.

rehanalm73 says:

Small business here in generally are facing a really bad time.  The banks are withdrawing their overdraft limits and even refusing them loans on a day to day basis.

meyum says:

ofcourse, because there is general worldwide economic crunch happening

fear factor

Lately the ferocity of things happening in Karachi is hitting you in the face. First the president and then the economy crumble. I have never been one of those who are very involved in the political scenario of the country, sadly I have just been watching and living, not doing. But then, what could you do? What CAN you do even now, but I certainly can’t not face the happening around anymore, political or social.
When I heard that new song by Shehzad Roy, I was very girlishly excited because some twisted innocent person in me thought, “ok there is hope and we can laugh at ourselves and still grow”.
I was wrong, we are not laughing, we are all shit scared, and on the face of it we all might say,” its ok an we cant run away from our own country” but actually every single person is looking for a way out…but no one is to blame. What do you do, when people are being laid off on a day’s notice, girls are being kidnapped, women raped.

I have a class coming up, I OWN PAKISTAN, and a whole list of influential “good” people will be chairing this panel and talking to a bunch of students from college. Right now I am thinking, is this part of our doing something to fix things? Or is it just a THING we are doing, which is going to result in nothing.
When will this fear of bad leadership end?
